Renowned as one of Slovenia’s most scenic cycling trails, the route between Jesenice and Tarvisio — officially the Jure Robič Cycling Route — holds the title of the longest, most popular, and most beloved ride in the Gorenjska region. Look for the official D-2 signs along the way.
The route stretches from Jesenice to the border crossing at Rateče, covering a total distance of approximately 28 km. From there, you can continue into Italy toward Tarvisio, passing through Valbruna and on to Pontebba, or you can turn left just after the border and follow the trail leading to the stunning Fusine Lakes.
The cycling path follows the former railway line, which was decommissioned in 1966. From Mojstrana, it gently ascends through the Upper Sava Valley, with a total elevation gain of 255 meters up to Rateče. The ride offers a relaxed journey through charming villages and forests, with breathtaking views along the way. You'll also find well-maintained rest areas along the path, perfect for a short break or refreshment.
We’ll be happy to arrange a bike rental for you, with delivery straight to the doorstep of your chalet from Kranjska Gora.
